I have to say that I have found more family members on facebook. Some of them I have not talked to in years. Now, I hear from them every day. It is wonderful to be able to keep in touch and see what they are up too.
Even tough it is not possible to chat with them online very often, it is sometimes enough to read their status updates, take a look at their pictures, and "see" that they are there..
It is very comforting as a parent to be able to see what your kids are doing, especially when they live far away. I'm not one of those parents who uses the phone to call (harass?) my children, but I can check Facebook or their blogs as many times as I want! And I love the ease and spontaneity of chat.
